Sun Researching Virtual Team Software

I’ve worked in virtual teams before (most notably for two years as a consultant for IBM) but we never had software like this! Sun’s working on a “Second Life” style virtual workplace. As you can see in the pictures, workers can have avatars within the virtual office — I still haven’t figured out how that helps me. What’s getting great reviews though is the platform’s ability to share files, stream video and audio, and enable collaboration at a level not available in commercial platforms.
It’s all experimental, so we can’t give up our Free trial subscription quite yet. But it certainly bears watching.
